Robin ATL

BACKGROUND

Composite construction V-tail mid-wing two-seat trainer: "Avion Tres Leger" designed by Pierre Robin.

Prototype ff 17/6/83. In production at Dijon from 1985 to 1990.

Up to c/n 36 were first operated on temporary certification as F-Wxxx and re-registered after full type certification in 4/86.

ATL Main production: 'Club' with JPX 4T-60A or 'Voyage' with JPX 4T-75B engine (now supported by Rectimo)
ATL-L Late production & retrospective mods with Limbach 2000-D2A (proto c/n 121)
ATL-S Version with Swiss silencer mods
(c/n 62) re-engined in 2010 with Rotax 912 and transferred to ULM register.
(c/n 68) re-engined in 2012 with Jabiru 2200 and transferred to ULM register.

BUL Zulu

In late 1990's an associated company in the Apex Group, Bourgogne Ultra Leger Aviation, also called BulAero, alongside Robin at Dijon-Darois constructed a prototype of a ULM called the BUL Zulu. It was basically a weight-reduced ATL with a V-tail and a Rotax 912 engine, photo on https://www.forum-ulm-ela-lsa.net/viewtopic.php?f=456&t=3466 . It completed a test-flying programme at Darois, and achieved French Type Certification. It was announced that production would start in 1999 but this did not happen.

A much-modified Zulu (possibly a new airframe?) appeared at Aero 99, publicised as being aimed at the African market. This had a conventional single fin tail and other mods; see: http://www.aviajournal.com/arhiv/1999/499eng/st1d_499.html. and https://doc8643.com/aircraft/ZULU
This new version was planned to be certificated in 2002/03. but work stopped in Sept 2002 following the Apex Group bankruptcy, see

It was registered as F-WWNJ c/n 01 in 4/01, while F-WWNK was reserved for c/n 02 but believed not completed. The fates of the Zulu airframes are uknown.
